Today we had the opportunity to interview the co-founders of Jupiter, Tyler Turner and Simon Saval!

Can you share with us the story about what brought you to this specific career path?

Jupiter’s co-founders Tyler and Simon knew about the incredible benefits of CBD for stress and sleep, but couldn’t find the organic quality they were looking for. After exiting their previous company, they spent over a year developing Jupiter and re-inventing how premium CBD can be made. The result is a CBD oil that’s 100% USDA certified organic, made from hemp flowers only, and triple lab-tested for purity and strength. Tyler and Simon’s mission is to help people with stress and CBD works like a magical “off-button” for feeling anxious.

Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you began leading your company?

The most impactful stories have come from our customers. We’ve had nurses who could finally sleep again after long shifts, veterans who we could help with their PTSD nightmares, and people who Jupiter helped deal with skin issues. On a daily basis, we’re touched by the incredible ways people benefit from CBD and it’s incredibly motivating and rewarding for us.

Can you share a story about the funniest mistake you made when you were first starting? Can you tell us what lesson you learned from that?

Simon and Tyler both didn’t know much about CBD when they first tried it and were actually both very skeptical, if not opposed, to CBD. We had the common misconceptions that CBD might get you high and since we both don’t drink or smoke pot, we didn’t want to try CBD at first. A friend who is a researcher cleared up these myths and we tried and loved CBD. Ironically, this initial skepticism was replaced with enthusiasm and dedicating our time to creating next-generation CBD products.

Are you working on any exciting projects now?

We’re working on partnerships with well-known celebrities as well as several new product introductions.

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

Dozens of friends and family members were kind enough to help us with feedback, taste tests, and just an incredible amount of love and support. We’re so grateful to all of them, many of which now use Jupiter daily.

This industry is young dynamic and creative. Do you use any clever and innovative marketing strategies that you think large legacy companies should consider adopting?

Stepping away from pre-scripted, safe, and common ways to talk about your product is a great idea. People are incredibly good at picking up BS and traditional marketing often feels like that. I think real, authentic customer stories and experiences with the product is the best way forward for modern marketing.

Can you share 3 things that most excite you about the Cannabis industry? Can you share 3 things that most concern you?

We’re most excited about the increasing legalization and research that can be done because of that. It will help a lot of people over time. What’s concerning are brands that don’t care for quality and safety as well as large brands that use questionable production processes that save money but lower the quality of products. The hemp plant is great at absorbing toxins from the soil, so organic certifications and detailed lab-testing should be much more widespread than they are.

Can you share your “5 Things I Wish Someone Told Me Before I Started Leading a Cannabis Business”? Please share a story or example for each.

We focused a lot on product quality and development early on, which is incredibly important as a starting point. But after launch, we switched to focusing on customer service and growing organically through word of mouth, which was exactly the right decision. Happy customers who Jupiter Organic CBD is helping daily, are the best spokespeople for the product. We’ve had firefighters, doctors, students, moms, veterans, and everybody in between recommend Jupiter to their friends and each of their personal stories are incredible.

What advice would you give to other CEOs or founders to help their employees to thrive?

Foster a culture of openness, speed, and innovation. This especially includes rewarding creative, weird ideas, and challenging people to be themselves and to focus on passion side-projects. We actively encourage weird ideas and creative test projects, which often lead to powerful learning.

You are a person of great influence. If you could inspire a movement that would bring the most amount of good to the most amount of people, what would that be? You never know what your idea can trigger.

Tyler and Simon both believe that stress sits at the heart of a lot of problems the world is seeing. Stress seriously harms good decisionmaking, it deteriorates the quality of conversation, and it makes people overreact and make bad decisions. The world is at a tricky point right now and stress is contributing to the problems in a major way – creating a chain reaction of bad sleep, aggression, and bad communication. Our goal is to help people lower their stress quickly and naturally, which breaks the cycle and sets the world on a much more positive and compassionate path.
